30 Year Membership – Honoring Bev Sears


bev sears awarded 30 yearsBev Sears joined Zonta Foothills in 1984, just 2 years after it was chartered.  She explains  “It was what I was looking for . . . (Zonta) makes such a difference in the world.” She was recently honored by our club for her 30 years of membership and recognized for the unwavering contributions she has made during those years improving the status of women and supporting the mission of Zonta.


In 2009 Boulder Chamber honored Bev with the LIfe time achievement award at their annual Women Who Light the Community Event. She was honored for the incredible contributions she had made toto Boulder County and beyond. They explained that “for 48 years Bev has brought people together through her work, volunteer activities, and friendship. She has contributed her time and efforts to: People’s Clinic, Colorado Music Festival, Audubon Society, Democratic Women, Fortnightly Club, Unitarian Universalist Church, and Special Transit. As an elected member of the Boulder City Council, she participated in decisions around growth control, sustainable economy, and environmental quality. She headed the Model Lease Committee which created today’s Boulder Model Lease. Bev built the funding for the Graduate School and research institutes at CU and generated a multi-million dollar endowment. She did the legwork to initiate collaborative research institutes at CU and build the research campus. Her efforts also brought together the Graduate School Advisory Council and a small grants program now named the Beverly Sears Grants Endowment.” – You can see more about our very special member at:
