Leading on the Colorado CEDAW Task Force

Zonta member Veronica with Louisville Mayor Bob Muckle and Sharon J Simmons, President of Business and Professional Women of Boulder at the city’s signing of Cities for CEDAW resolution.

Club members Veronica Oswald-Hrutkay and Kay Meyer, along with fellow Women’s Collaborative of Boulder County members from Business and Professional Women of Boulder and UNA-USA Boulder County Chapter, have been working very hard to gain support for Cities for CEDAW.   CEDAW is The Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women and this local campaign is trying to “Make the Global Local” and protect the rights of women and girls by passing legislation establishing the principles of CEDAW in cities and towns across the United States.

Listen to our on Veronica Oswald-Hrutkey and BPW president Sharon Simmons discuss the importance of CEDAW radificatioin on KGNU Radio.

Our local team has been reaching out to Boulder County governments to gain their support. So far the City of Louisville,  leads the way, signing on to the pledge last spring. Presentations have also been made to  Boulder, Longmont, and Erie; more commitments to come.  The fight continues to protect the rights of women.
